QuestionA friend of mine has a chihuahua that he is trying to find a home for, and knowing that I've been wanting a dog for a while he offered her to me. I already have a cat, ferret, hamster, and tank of fish. The hamster and fish live in a different room, and the ferret and cat get along wonderfully. My question is, will the dog get along with the cat and ferret, and is there anything I can do to smooth the transition for them? I live in a small apartment, but I could set up a special place for the dog thats all hers if it help.
Also, do chis have any special needs that I need to know about?
Thanks!

Hi - I would take the chi doggie and give it a chance... Many times Chi dogs do great with other pets... Chi doggies do need much love and attention, when you are home. I bet they will all become friends in time.
Chi doggies need to eat 2-3 x per day so that the Blood sugar doesn't get too low. Make sure there is always some food offered at least 2 x per day with treats offered in between meals, if possible.
You should put your kid on a good supplement for the immune system and to prevent knee, joint and hip troubles... Chi dogs are very prone to Knee ( luxating patella) problems.
Here is the link to NuVET - get the wafers and only give 1/2 per day - you can mix this in the dog food or just feed as a treat.
It will cost you only .30 cents per day for the NuVET 1/2 wafer.
