luxating patella

Question
Hi! I have a 1 1/2 yr old Chihuahua named Kelsi. She has luxating patellas in both of her knees. Her left back knee is the worst though. She loves jumping and running around still. She goes crazy at the window when I take my other dog running and leave her at home. Since she just melts my heart I give in and take her running with us, which she LOVES!! I was just wondering if you think it's ok if I take her running with me. We go for about 2 miles every other day. She loves it and it doesn't seem to hurt her at all and she keeps up very well, almost better than my goldendoodle does! Should I stop taking her with us because of her knee problems or should I keep it up if it seems like she is ok?

Answer

NuVET for luxating pat
Hello Kendall- I am sorry to say that running her will do much more damage.  How about a back pack or carrier for her - she can go with you and not run..."SHE can ride."

Also, to help her avoid future pain and arthritis, please give her some NuVET Plus supplements - this will keep her mobile and pain free.  A luxating patella gets worse with time.  To avoid the problems that may arise, a good supplement is very important.

Here is my site for the NuVET Plus - we have thousands of Chi doggies on 1/2 a tablet per day ( wafer treat) OR you can get the powder that you mix into her food.
