Question
our 6 month old chihuahua appears to have anal gland issues. She has had
them expressed a few times at the vet but continues to scoot and lick and
sometimes have discomfort. They put her on an antibiotic and after 12 days
she was lethargic and sick. I brought her in and they expressed the glands
and said to stop the medication. We got home and she had bloody diarreha.
We are going back in today for a culture, any advice?

Answer

NuVET Anal Glands
Hi Lola - yes, I have some help for you kid... Get the culture today, it will take 48 hrs to grow.  They will call you if they find any nasty parasites.

Try the natural route:  Here are my suggestions:

Please give this Chi kid some canned pumpkin - 1 tablespoon 1 x per day for 1 week.  Also, let's give this kid a good quality food - Innova PUPPY food / excellent product...YOU can find this at most pet stores.

After 1 week of the pumpkin, then go every other day with the canned pumpkin ( 1 teaspoon)
- Make sure you find the NO added sugar canned pure pumpkin.
GOOD fiber for this kid.

Also, I would like to see you add some NuVET Plus - powder to your Chi's Diet- This is a wonderful supplement and Immune system booster - this product will KEEP the VET away...... Save money on your VET bills with NuVET Plus

I sure hope that the culture doesn't come back with any parasites.
You kid may just need good food, fiber and the NuVET supplement.
