Question
hi, i am worried for my mums chihuahua. When he is doing well he is normal. But he has alot of odd behaviors which some of we think we understand. Like when the air is dry he gets static shocks and gets all scared and shakes so we put some baby oil on his coat to prevent this. He has dislocating knees which he has had an operation on one knee, but it wasn't 100% successful because he has the condition pretty bad. The vet gave us a cartilage supplement and pain & anti-inflammatories medication. He seem to come good for a month. When he plays too much its like he gets sore and will go and curl up around the toilet bowl. but sometimes , and all of a sudden he will get scared without any reason and all he wants is hugs and he get up on my shoulder and latches on. we have tried to give him his pain medication but it hasn't seem to help. He is also acting funny with his food, normally he eats it real fast but lately he eats a bit then walks away scared, then he will come back and do it again till its all gone. His tail is always between his legs and he walks around cautiously. We are worried that something medical is wrong with him. I also have thought whether he might have physiological problems. Worried.

Hello Aprillia ,  Well, the patella ( Knee) problem is a common one for Chi Dogs...
I would give a baby aspirin 81 mg ( every-other-day) - hide in some hot dog or cheese?
**Ask your vet if 1/2 a baby aspirin daily or 1 full baby aspirin every other day would be ok for your chi.
You can also add some olive oil - just 1/4 of a tea spoon to her dog food daily.
Good for skin, legs and joints...

As far as nerves... That is how many chi dogs are....
Many act like scared little kids.  My Chi is the Boss of the house.  You can see the submissive chi or the Boss chi.  From one extreme to another in personality.

BEST wishes to you kids.
