Question
The breeder suggested that I give Rusty Taco 1/2 tsp honey twice daily.  He is having fairly loose stool.  Should I discontinue the honey?  Does he actually need it?  I also was told to add honey to his water.

Answer
Hi Hazel- the breeder doesn't want your little one to get low blood sugar.  Chi doggies are prone to this... To combat this problem you feed 4 small meals per day until they are 6 months old.  Then, they can eat 2 meals per day with an afternoon treat.

Here are my suggestions for your baby and the loose poops.

Give him a good quality food - Mix your old food with this new food x 1 month... Then, go 100% to this new food, ok??
Innova for puppies is wonderful... YOU can find Innova a pet store or at on-line E stores... Great quality food - feed smaller amounts because the food is condensed with Excellent ingredients.
Again, feed 4 small meals per day and drop the honey.

Also, give this baby some canned pumpkin every day.  Give 1 treaspoon every morning of canned pure pumpkin.  Excellent fiber and great calories, too!

Last, Buy some NuVET Plus - this is one of the Best supplement / Vitamins for Chi doggies !!!  Only will cost you .25 cents per day for NuVET Plus Wafers.. Your dog will only need 1/2 a wafer per day.  You can break the wafer up and mix it into his food.
BREEDERS send many pups home with NuVET - You can buy from the manufacturer with this breeder code ( 81098) - You must have this code when ordering
Call 1-800-474-7044 and tell them you want to start your baby on the NuVET Plus-  You can mix the nuvet treat into the canned pumpkin if you want .  YUM YUM
