what should I feed my chihuahuas?

Question
Hi, I'm back to ask another question about my chihuahuas. I've asked questions before about my dog, Link. Well, we have 2 chihuahuas, one is 5 years old and the other one is almost 9 months old, Snowflake. And I have been trying to find a dog food that they both can have cause they eat out of the same bowl. I found one that was Kibbles and Bits that was specially formulated for small dogs and puppies, but I have not been able to find another brand that says that. They all either say for adult small breeds, adult dogs, or for puppies. Can I give my puppy an adult dog food or give my adult dog puppy dog food? The first dog food they had was Beneful, but the puppy threw it up. And I heard that Kibbles and Bits was not a healthy dog food to give them. Someone told me that it's like them having McDonalds every day. Do you know of any other types I can give them? Is my puppy old enough to have a dog food that says, adult small breed on it? I want to find a healthier dog food, but I haven't found one and the only stores we have in the town I live in is Walmart and Target and they don't have anything. Can you please help me? Thank you!! I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Tanya

Answer
Unfortunately the foods you will find in your grocers are horrible for dogs, whoever said that kibbles and bits, beneful etc. is like feeding McDonalds is correct. These food contain horrible ingredients, but no fear because this is what I'm here for, to help ya! I actually have a 3 month old and a 2 year old and I feed them Merrick Brand dog food. Google it and you can find out where they sell it near you. I buy the Merrick Wilderness Blend, but they have other types. They are foods for all stages, meaning puppies - seniors can eat it. Sure this brand offers a Puppy and Senior, but all stages can eat it. I feed the Wilderness blend because they love the venison, bison, and salmon in it. It is all natural good food. Another brand is called Timberwolf Organics, my older chi isn't to crazy about it, but I belong to a chihuahua group where most like it. In the Timberwolf Organics most feed the dakota blend.
Also Innova is good for the dogs, they make a small kibble, but I will tell you this, my 3 month old is barely 1.5 pounds and she eats normal sized kibble, this is great for their teeth.

Hope that helps
