Female heat question.

Question
I have a female Chihuahua that is 2 years old. She has been in heat 3 times and is due to go into heat again in late Feb - early March. I have 2 male dogs (another chi and a mini poodle). My male chi isn't fixed. I am planning to get my female fixed in the next week or two, but I think she is going to go into heat earlier than expected. My males are paying special attention to her and starting to hump her. But instead of snapping at them like she normally does, she just stood there yesterday. How late can I safely get her fixed before she goes into heat? Will it hurt her or have negative side effects if I get her fixed as she is just starting to go into heat? Is there a way for the vet to see if she is going into heat before her vagina starts to swell up and bleed? Thank you!

Answer
Hi Misti, Yes, the vet can spay her when she is in Heat or Season.  It costs a little more when they are in heat.  ( more work for the vet).
The vet can also do a blood test to see if she is going into Season at this time...
Good luck to you!
