Question -
I am looking for a v docile, non aggressive lap dog who has the least tendency to snap.We have v old and v young peole at home and are considering of adding one more oet to our household after 2-3 years.

We all love the looks of American Bullenese but are not sure about its temperament. Do you think this could be right breed for our family?

Answer -
I've never heard of this particular breed of dog and therefore, I cannot give you a definitive answer.

There are 3 types of bull dogs I have heard of - English bulldog, French Bulldog and American Bulldog. WHich one of the 3 will suitour family, according to the criteria given above? Thanks.

Answer
I think the American Bulldog is a great family dog, especially if you have active children. These dogs will require obedience training and lots of socialization in order to be a well mannered family member, but the work is very much worth it in the end.

The American's can be protective so seek out ones that are best suited for your needs.  Some breeders go for a more "game" dog that is a bit high strung with a high prey drive. I would stay clear of these dogs.

There are some really good American Bulldogs out there. I can refer you to a breeder in the state of Maine who has some wonderful dogs if you like. Email me privately if you wish at omai@starband.net
