Question
My boy Moose who is 3 1/2 ,,has started to shake his head with no control,,he seems fine, but a little confused,,then  after a minute or so his heads stop shaking and he seems to snap out of it??

Answer
These could be what are called "idiopathic head tremors" - head shaking with no known cause (and no ill-effects) - which are not uncommon in Boxers; they could also be focal seizures, obviously a more serious concern.  Other conditions such as nerve injury or damage, worms, thyroid problems, etc. are also possibilities.  The confusion is not as typical of idiopathic tremors; typically with those the dog is aware and alert, the head just shakes or bobs (it looks similar to a person with advanced Parkinson's disease).

A vet check-up is a good idea, to at least rule out some things.  You might consider keeping a journal of these spells, tracking when they occur, what he was doing at the time, what he ate that day, any meds or vaccinations, activity, etc. - sometimes there are patterns that can help you determine a trigger.  For tremors, giving a spoonful of peanut butter or honey can sometimes stop the shaking.

There's a good article on tremors and focal seizures here:
