Boxer dog: pink tint to coat

Question
Hi Angela,
I have a 6 month old male fawn boxer.  At times we notice that the white around his nose, mouth and neck area have a pink tint.  Also, his eyes, especially his left one, will be red on the bottom. The red in his eye and the pink on his coat will vary in shade.  We've been feeding him the same food for about 2 months thinking that was the problem but it has not changed.

Answer
Hi Christina,
The pink tint around his nose and mouth area is a normal process and will continue to vary and change as he matures. The red eye could be allergies or infection so I'd recommend a vet visit to check that out. There is the possibility that the pink tint is an allergic reaction to the food you are feeding but that isn't my first impression. You can check out my website to see food we recommend feeding boxers at http://www.hitowerboxers.com/boxerfood.htm also if your not feeding and watering your boxer in stainless steel bowls I'd recommend changing to them, alot of boxers and dogs in general are allergic to plastic and it also harbors bacteria. This time of year many boxers experience allergic reactions to varying pollens, etc and can cause the eyes to become red and your vet may prescribe eye medication to help. I hope this information has been helpful. Thank you for your questions. If I can be of further assistance please don't hesitate to ask, have a great day!
Sincerely,
