introducing new boxer to our household

Question
Hi, I have a 3 year old beautiful male boxer who is a gem. Have 2 kids who really respect and love him. One of my friend has a 1 year old bitch and needs her rehomed, she can't cope as she has a baby on the way and 3 children under 5 so I can understand that a boxer is hard work, I've had them and trained them since I was 14 years old. I am nervous as I've never had two at the same time but as he is well established in our family I think it would be good for him. He seems lonely sometimes, even though we are all around and he gets on well with all other dogs. We are meeting over a forest next week which both dogs are unaccustomed to, what else can i do to ensure the meeting goes well. Do i allow the children to come along or not???

Answer
The Boxers already know each other because you said she is established in your family...

...so don't worry. It's not like being strangers.

The female Boxer is more aggressive and dominant than the male, so be prepared for that.

Treat them equal--

Bring her food dishes and toys, her bed and anything that is hers, into your home when you get her.

Make it her home too.

Let me know how it goes. Boxers are social and love each others company, as they are not loners. All should be fine. Most Boxer lovers have two!
