Question
I have a 6 year old boxer who has a red and raw chin. She rubs her chin on furniture to scratch. I have brought her to the vet and they said it was an allergy and gave me some ointment to put on her chin that didnt do anything. I also changed her food for a year and that didnt help. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Pam,
Yes it could be allergies, a lot of boxers get this condition. This is the method I've used in the past for this. First change her food and water bowl to stainless bowls as many dogs are allergic to plastic and it harbors bacteria. Second, daily cleanse the area with hydrogen peroxide, used to clean wounds, dampen a cotton ball and apply then apply a triple antibiotic cream. Third, I'd put her on NuVet vitamins daily for at least 60 days or longer depending on how severe it is. This method has been fool proof for us with many boxers and other canines. You can go to our website and click on the link for NuVet on the right hand side of the website. Good luck and please let me know if this works for your boxer. Thanks so much for your question.
