Question
our dog is about to have her last litter of pups.  it's been one week since she has finished with mate.  she seems to be very tired.  eating very little, not alot of energy?
what about vitamins? just haven't seen her like this before?

Answer
What is the question?

She is 6 years old, has had 4 or 5 litters of puppies? And just mated again- so this is her 5th litter or 6th if pregnant?

Dams do not change in one week of mating even if pregnant. One week is not long enough to show signs of morning sickness or change behaviors.

If she is tired and not eating, has a lack of energy, get her to your vet immediately. There could be serious problems.

You NEVER, NEVER give a pregnant, or might be pregnant dam vitamins of any kind, supplements of any kind, and medicines during pregnancy. The first 4 weeks of pregnancy is critical, and vitamins do cause birth defects such as clef pallet, let alone, kill the puppy.

If you are a responsible breeder, you will take her to a vet to be tested and checked. If pregnant, and abortion might be warranted due to health problems.

No female should ever be breed over the age of five years old if vet approved and healthy- and no female should ever have more than two (2) litters in her lifetime, and spread between a 2 year span. Say breed the first time at the age 2 and again at the age 4 then no more.

6 years old is too old considering Boxers life spans are only 10 years- she is a senior dog now that can have cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, thyroid conditions, diabetes, etc.

To carry a litter of puppies for 63 days and whelp and nurse a litter at her age is extremely dangerous to any dam, let alone an old one. It takes an extreme toil on them physically- and emotionally.

I say shame on you.
