Question
My 5yr old female boxer has just rescently started 2 urinate in her sleep, she is drinking a little bit more water but I haven't noticed anything else other than that, although she was spayed when she was a puppy.I hope you can help me with this small problem, thank you if you do look at this question.

Answer
At the age of 5 years old, something has caused her to suddenly begin to urinate. If drinking more water, I would say she has developed diabetes, Frequent urination and increased thirst is a sure sign of diabetes.

This is easily control once you see your vet and find out the dosage of insulin she will need, but you have to get a glucose kit too, and learn to check her a few times a day, and especially before injecting insulin. This also means a special diabetic diet. No more regular dog food and no more dog treats. You can buy special dog food for the diabetic dog but it is expensive, but you can also learn to cook healthy food for a diabetic and add to her diabetic dog food to make it last longer.

Please call your vet and tell the reception you need to see him ASAP for a diabetic check and glucose check. Ask if she needs to fast before going, etc.

Good luck William, and let me know please. I like to keep up with all my Boxers.
