Question
QUESTION: Sorry for asking so many questions now but Im just so excited and really want everything to be the best it can be. Just wanted to know what you would recommend, what kind of wormer should I use on the mother and the pups? where can I purchase it or do I ask my vet? How often after she gives birth should she and the pups be de wormed?

ANSWER: Hi. Ask as many questions as you need to. I would buy the wormer from your vet. Get either Nemex or Panacur, I use Panacue the first worming, Nemex for the wormings after that. I worm mom and pups when the pups are three weeks old. After that, I worm only the pups every 3 weeks after that. Good luck, and feel free to ask as many questions as you need to.:-)

QUESTION: well we went to the vet and got an x ray done we saw atleast 2 pups but the vet said that she could always have more? Anyway shes about 56 days along and Ive noticed some changes, like the clear discharge started since 06/10 and she still has that. She has stopped eating for 2 days but no signs of her going into labor, do you have any ideas of what this could be should I take her to the vet again? he said everything looked fine, when she is inside trying to sleep she will move around and dig a little in her whelping boxe but other then that I haven't seen any signs of her pushing or breathing hard. at this point I am really worried because this is a small litter and there could be complications.

P.S. sorry so long thanks for answering so many questions

Answer
Hi. She may not be eating well because the pups are taking up so much room inside of her. try offering her more frequent, smaller meals during the day. You can try to put some cottage cheese, beef broth, or gravy over her food to see if that perks her appetite some. As for the digging in her whelping box, could she just be trying to get comfortable? Some dogs will dig and turn around when trying to find the right spot to lay down. When labor starts, she will dig like crazy, and pant hard. You'll know the difference when you see it. If we can just get her past day 58, it should be just fine. What to look out for: a colored discharge before the birth of the first puppy. Pushing for longer than 15 minutes. Going longer than 3 hours between pups. If any of this happens, call your vet. She sounds like she's just an uncomfortable mom, but if it would make you feel better, give your vet a call. I'm going to send you a link, I highly encourage you to have a look at it. There's a lot of great info there.

Ps you are most welcome, let me know if you have any more questions.
