Question

PANDORA
HI!

MY FEMALE BOXER IS ALMOST TWO YEARS OLD, SHE IS REVERSE BRINDLE. SINCE I GOT HER I HAVE NOT NOTICE HER HAVE HER 1ST HEAT, MY WIFE SAID THAT SHE'S HAD IT, BUT VERY LIGHT, I AM NOT CONVINCE SHE'S HAD IT. I HAVE FOUND SOME LIGHT SPOTS OF BLOOD IN HER SLEEPING PLACE, AND MY WIFE HAVE SEEN SOME VERY LIGHT DROPS ON THE FLOOR. BUT HER PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS ARE NOT VISIBLE. HER VULVA DOES NOT SEEM TO BE SWOLLEN, AND I DON'T KNOW IF THE BLOOD MAY BE FROM SOMETHING ELSE, I HAVE CHECKED HER PRIVATE AREA WITH TISSUE PAPER, AND I HAVE NEVER FOUND ANY BLOOD SPOTS. IS IT NORMAL FOR A BOXER TO GET HER HEAT AT THE AGE OF 2? OR IS SHE SUFFERING FROM DRY HEAT? AND WHAT EXACTLY IS A DRY HEAT? AND WOULD THERE BE ANY PROBLEM IF I WANTED TO BREED HER IF IT IS THAT SHE HAS VERY HEAT?

Answer
First, Jose, don't use caps to type- it means "shouting" on the computer.

She is 2 years old and has had heats at least every 6 months- twice a year.

She might not have the typical signs that others do, but she has had heats. They last approximately 28-30 days during the heat cycle.

If you are concerned- keep a calendar on her. Next "blood" dropping you see... mark it on a calendar and watch for all the signs for 30 days. See if she has a heat 5-6 months later.

You can always take her to your vet for a check up about this.
