has roxy got kennel cough??please help?

hi,i have recently took my mums boxer(roxy) on.she found her wandering the streets and has had her for the last two years and been looked after very well.about two months ago roxy was in the garden playing with a hedgehog!!she ate part of the head or so i believe!!since then she has had a terrible cough like she is trying to possibly cough up spikes from the hedgedhog.i took her to the vets myself recently and the girl behind the counter advised this was nothing to do with hedgehog and that it was kennel cough(with only hearing her cough and no examination)!!i have since looked and researched that kc only lasts for 2-3 weeks.am extremely concerned now as over two months she still has this cough but is eating fine and seems herself apart from this.should i take her to the vets??hope you can help and hope to hear from you soon,Barry

Kennel cough is normally accompanied by a snotty nose, runny eyes and or lethargy.  It's essentially an upper respiratory infection so think of the symptoms you would have.  The cough that comes along with KC sounds like a Moose call before it starts to dry out.

Your veterinarian's receptionist acted very unprofessionally and I hope you will not be returning to that practice.  If you must, a talk with the veterinarian is in order.  A girl behind a desk is not able to diagnose illness nor should she.  

Yes, she absolutely should be seen.  She should have been seen the first time you took her in.  She could have a respiratory infection or a laceration in her throat that isn't healing properly.
