companion for a boxer

Question
hi, my friend has a boxer who is quiet energetic. she is considering getting a companion for her. she is considering a basset hound. would this breed be a good choice or is there a better more suitable breed. she wants a dog that would be smaller in height.

Answer
No, I do not believe a Basset Hound would be a wise choice- as a Basset Hound is a "lazy" type, non-energetic and non-playful, with too short legs breed and cannot keep up with the highly energetic, bouncing-bronco, running Boxer that is a "puppy" and a "clown" as his adult life.

I would suggest any breed the size she is desiring that shares the same personality traits as the Boxer.

Research the breeds and their personalities and requirements and match as close to a Boxer's as possible.

She can join for free, Boxerworld.com and Boxerforums.com and go into the forums and read all about Boxers and they are all Boxer owners and lovers- some with other dogs in their household.

She can post in the forums, and other Boxer owners can tell her about their other dogs that are companions to their Boxer(s).

I personally suggest another Boxer for her Boxer. If you own one, then two is better-- they know they are Boxers, they know that they are special compared to other breeds, and they can play and rest together well. They fit and compliment each other.

Many Boxer owners start with one, and get another as a companion for their original Boxer, and it is not uncommon for a third Boxer.
