Question
I have a one year old black male boxer. He coughs alot and you see him start to gag or try to bring stuff up, in the end he ends up throwing up. Most of contains dog food. We feed him Dog chow, before that we were feeding him puppy chow. We have had this problem with puppy chow as well though. This has been going on for a while and at first we were cautious of it but thought he just got something stuck. Now its happening more often but not everyday. We are thinking about taking him to the vet because we are unsure what to do?

Answer
There is no such thing as a "black" Boxer. If he is that dark, then he is a reverse Brindle Boxer.

He needs an all natural dog food with no corn and no corn glutens. Boxers tend to be allergic to corn and its byproducts and that can cause the vomiting.

If his vomit is after eating and is is food is vomits up, then it is probably food allergies or a stomach problem. If the vomit is clearish-yellow, it is a renal (kidney) problem.

Either way, it is a good idea to see your vet and explain it all. But do change to a good food, please.
