Question
How often should my boxers be given treats? And are rawhide treats good or bad for them? They love them all and will beg for them and lead me to the kitchen cabinet where I keep them.
Thanks

Answer
Rawhide treats are alright occasionally IF supervised, as they will soften them as they gnaw and pieces can come off and choke them. Also, rawhide can carry bacteria too. One rawhide a week max- under your careful eye and watch.

I would personally break the rawhide habit and op for bones- even nice beefy flavored bones, but under your watchful eye too.

Rawhide has no nutritional value- neither does the flavored bones-- the bone gnawing helps clean their teeth by removing tartar, but no value otherwise.

You can break the rawhide treat by moving them out into a garage or somewhere that they can not smell them and know where there are- and when you offer one- do not let them see where it came from. Thus, breaking the begging. Out of sight and smell- out of mind.

Read labels on treats- grocers don't have healthy treats per say-- go to a pet store and read labels- look for healthy treats with nutritional values.
