Question
Hello, We have a house full of boxers, My son will be taking his 5 out to his house very soon. But we have a 7 1/2 month old male. We had him were he wouldn't jump on people, now he is starting to jump again, everything that we tried before isn't working. I don't want him to jump unless we ask him to get up. My parent's are getting up in age, our daughter-in-law is expecting and we can't have him jumping and knocking them down. Any help would be great.

Answer
The main question is: why all of a sudden is he jumping after being trained not to?

Is there a household/family change? A move? Anything new?

My suggestion on training him NOT to jump up on people is simple.

You must have a large crate/cage pen for him...each and every time he jumps up on someone, verbally reprimand him with a stern voice, in simple commands as, "No, down! No! Bad!"

Then, put him in the crate for a "time-out" for about 5 minutes.

This will need to be consistent, using the exact same reprimands.

He will soon associate the verbal reprimand with the act- and it's consequence.

Give him about 2 weeks of this and he will learn.
