QuestionI have a 4 1/2 year old male boxer. For the past 2 days he has been whimpering and howling no stop. Needless to say I can't sleep. I took notice of a female yellow lab that comes around our property often. Every time she comes around he start jumping around and getting excited. So I took him outside and he wouldn't stop trying to mount her and mate with her. So I tied him up outside for a few hours to let the two of them have fun. Now he won't eat at all. I have tried everything to get him to eat and he won't. Is this normal behavior for a male Boxer?
AnswerNo, it is not normal behavior to stop eating.
I don't know where you live-- but you CANNOT tie up a Boxer outside!!!!!!!!!!!!
They CANNOT tolerate temperatures over 76-77 degrees.
You might have caused him dehydration or worse, heat stroke.
Get him to your vet ASAP!
As far as the howling -- it was due to a female in heat.
Get him neutered.
