Question

Boxer puppies
My female boxer had puppies early this morning. 4 white, 3 fawn-ish colored. My female is a very light fawn. The 3 fawn puppies seem like they MAY be brindle, it is hard to tell. One fawn pup is lighter than the other two. The mother's mom is reverse brindle. Thanks for your time! I attached a picture. -Heather

Answer
Hi. The fawn pups look like fawns to me, just a darker fawn. You didn't say what color dad was. In order for a Boxer to be brindle, one of the parents has to be brindle. Brindle is dominate over fawn, so if the brindle gene is present, the dog is brindle. A brindle can carry a fawn and a brindle gene, but a fawn can only carry fawn. When your girl is bred to a fawn, only fawns will be produced. When bred to a brindle, you can get fawn's and brindles. It's confusing.:-) Anyway, they look fawn to me, and are absolutely gorgous! Thanks for sharing, and feel free to keep me updated! P.S. I worry about the white one in the middle, he looks a bit thin compared to the rest of the fatties. Please keep a good eye on him.
