Problems with my 1 1/2 yr old

Question
QUESTION: Hey there, I'm really hoping someone can help me out with my boxer!  He's a 1 1/2 year old male, not neutered, YET.

He goes for a week at a time in his crate for just shy of 8 hrs with no mess, then one day you come home and he's moved his crate all around the house, peed on everything, and ripped apart anything he can reach.  I have powerwashed and sprayed his crate down outside with bleach and hot water, and it doesn't seem to matter.  Then he is consistently chewing up my kids toys if he gets a hold of them and no amount of reprimand works.  He looks like he feels bad for it, gets put in his crate or tied up outside when he's bad, and he understands (or so I thought) that what he did was bad, but then a few days later, he does it again.

My husband is at the point where he wants to get rid of him and I am just out of ideas.  Will fixing him help solve this problem?  we were told by a few boxer breeders to not fix them before they are 2...is this right?  This is why I've been waiting...he'll be 2 in May of next year...Please help me!!!!  I love him very much and do not want to get rid of him, but I'm becoming powerless to my husband at this point because he's ruining everything he can get his cheeky paws or teeth into...

ANSWER: First of all, neutering him will not fix this behavior and vets recommend neutering when 5-6 months old.

Secondly, his behavior is due to your treatment and his unhappiness; he is rebelling against you.

You cannot leave a dog crated for 8 hours. Can you imagine being in a jail cell for 8 hours- without a toilet? This is what you are doing to him.

You cannot use the crate for housing him while you are at work then use it for punishment too.

One or the other.

He now sees the crate as an 8 hour punishment instead of home and security.

Re-home him. No dog belongs couped up in a cage for 8 hours. He needs a home where someone does not work and can allow him to be free inside the home daily and has the time to work with him and train him with patience.

Sorry for being blunt, but truth is truth. You cannot train him when he is being caged for 8 hours a day.

QUESTION: Re-Home him, eh?

Wow, I'm shocked that you even have this website for people to ask questions.  He's not caged for 8 hours at a time, every day. It's not very often it's that long, but when he's caged that long, he's fantastic, it's the 1 hour here and 1 hour there that he rips shit apart.

As for getting him fixed at 5-6 months, yeah I'm well aware of that, but actual BREEDERS, not just some random idiot with a website that pretends they know what they are talkign about, have told me to wait until the boxer is 2 years old before you neuter them A) and B) we took the dog from someone else that was beating him on a regular basis.  Thanks for your ridiculous response, but I guess it's my fault for going to the internet to ask questions, I'll go back to the breeder I spoke with before and get the right information.

I really hope no one else asks you these questions because aside from the peeing in his crate and tearing things up when he's IN the crate, my dog is an amazing dog, and is very well trained.  Those are the 2 things I can't get him to stop doing.

You're a douche.  thanks for nothing, don't reply to THIS.
