Question
QUESTION: i have a 9 yr old boxer that has only 1 testicle and he has not been bred this is my 2nd boxer to have this. he has recently been having partial seizures, is it necessary for him to be neutered or is his seizure activity stemming from something else? thx

ANSWER: Undescended testicles do not cause seizures. You need to get him to a vet ASAP. He could be epileptic or have a severe neurological problem. Seizures are a symptom of something.

QUESTION: thank you for your response i had an appointment with my vet for my boxer to have labe work done after discussing in length with him about the partial seizure activity, and his thyroid is high so we have put him on thyroid medicine and i didn't think the 1 testicle would be causing the sz but it seems to be a concern from the vet that if the testicle is in the stomach that he would be at higher risk for it turning into cancer. i want to get the sz under control before they become full blown first tho.  darla

Answer
His thyroid must have been really bad. Yes, vets will remove the testicle to help decrease chance of cancer, which isn't always a concern, but a higher probability. He will be more safe with it removed.

I hope the thyroid medicine controls his thyroid well and everything improves. I have one girl that takes Pala-Tech chewables twice a day.
