Question
I bought a boxer puppy for my grandchildren a year ago for Christmas.  He is up to date on all his shots and last spring he came down with Parvo!  The vets got him through it, it was touch and go for over a week, but he pulled through.  We he has been sick off an on since then.  Never can keep him healthy.  The vet says he has some sort of mucal colitis? He goes on meds gets healthy and starts to eat, then a few days later he starts with the diahria and vomiting and goes off his food and gets lathargic..........so back to the vet and they do this on a weekly basis..........cannot keep the weight on him. I am attaching a pic my daughter in law sent me.  They are at their wits end.  It is breaking their hearts to see him wither away.......do you know of anything else that they can try.......anything to suggest to the vet to test for?

Answer
Recovering from Parvo is serious, but if he had all his shots, he shouldn't have gotten it-- chances would have been slim to contract it.

Here's articles on mucal and hostiocytic colitis:

Sweet potato puppy food will help. This is easy on the stomach and helps stop the dirrahea.

Get a vet that WILL HELP... one that will resolve this issue and find out what's really going on....

Give him children's plain Pediolyte and try some sweet potato baby food ASAP.

He needs to go to a Boxer-savvy vet immediately.
