Question
Hi,We have a 9 month old male boxer named Tyson. He is a very playful and energetic male. He was neutered when he was 4 months old. He has a aggression issue. Everytime we take him around strangers or take him for a walk and people past by. He always seem to growl. He does not take no action. I tell him no and pull on his collar with the leash . He stops but then he starts growling again. Why is he doing this? How can i make this stop and make him not scare people away by him growling? Thanks in advance.

Answer
This behavior training should have started with leash training at 4 months old.

He is getting older and in an "alpha" stage, plus he is a natural protector, and thinks he is doing his job.

Boxers are normally a protective-natured do, thus being aggressive. Especially with other dogs.

All you can do is continued the leashed-walks, and when he growls, you MUST tug the leash and verbally reprimand him in a firm, a little harsher tone of voice with easy commands.

You might try the electric shock collar that only shocks a little zap as a warning-reminder. This little shock every time he growls and shows the aggression, will soon become inherent in him and he will presume if he growls he will be zapped, so he will stop- thus breaking him from the aggression.

Or, you can use a squirt water bottle and squirt him in the face each time he growls and verbally reprimand him. This will soon be associated too.

Or, yet again, you might try using a fly swatter and swatting his nose upon the growl.

But each time he stops, each time he behaves, give him a special treat and praise him for his behavior. "Good boy- good job" sort of praise that is easy for him to associate with being good and pleasing you.

Get him under control before he becomes bigger and more aggressive.
