travelling with cats

Hi Barb,
We are moving from upstate NY to Florida and I'm wondering how I'm going to take my three cats. They hate the ride to the vet only 30 minutes away and they pant and meaw non stop. I don't want to think about being in the same car with them for two days. We have a pick up truck and I was thinking about making a large cage where they can have water, food, a place to sleep and their bathroom too.Any suggestions? Also, can you tell me a little bit about Siamese cats and their personalities, tendencies, likes and dislsikes?

Hi Jo,

Siamese are some of the most wonderful creatures...  they are spunky, super-intelligent, demanding, pursuasive, and are so cute when they play...  They are also very affectionate.  They are active, mouthy, and there is just nothing like a Siamese!  I am looking for a siamese kitten now, because I haven't had one in much too long.  

If I were you, I would ask the vet for some mild tranquilizers for your cats during your trip.  NOW THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!  If he gives you some... PLEASE break them in two pieces and only give HALF of it per day!  I learned this from experience AND my very gifted Veterinarian.  She is one of those rare people, who is very intelligent, learns everything, and who shares what she knows with us.  This will not only make your trip more pleasant, but it will be much less stressful and traumatic for the cats.
