small gray worms

I found very small gray worms they had some white on the end of them. They were in my cats bed where they sleep. Then i found a worm just like it on one of my cats by his rectal. What kind of worm can this be? and can it be harmful?

Hi Debra,

It's possible that your cat has tapeworms or another type of worm, and in order to find out for sure, your cat should be evaluated by the vet and a stool sample should be analyzed.   

Depending on which type of worm your cat has, the appropriate medication will be prescribed, and worming meds usually have to be repeated in 2-3 weeks.  If you have more than one cat, all should be treated.  It CAN be harmful, if the condition goes untreated.
