Our lost cat!

Question

Sparkle
I have a seventeen year old cat that just got out.  My mom let her out, and
then she forgot and never brought her back in.  My cat's name is Sparkle.  I
was wondering if you would have any tips on finding her.  She was really a big
part in both of our lives and my mom feels awful.  We already put up flyers
and handed some to the streets above and below ours.  And we also called all
of the shelters, Animal Ark, Pet Control and we also have an add in the paper.
I just don't know what to do now.  We have gone searching many times for
about two hours each.  I am really worried about her because she is an indoor
cat!!  It is like freezing cold!  Almost below freezing temperature.  She has
gone missing since January 13th.  No one has seen her.  I did go online and
research about the behavior that they would hide and not come out.  Could
you tell me how or when she might feel better, enough for her to come out
from her hiding spot also please?
Thank you,
Anna

Answer
Hi Anna,

I truly hope you find your cat.  A really good resource is your mailman!  Leave a note for the mail carrier asking if he's seen your cat around and if so, where.  Leave your garage door open enough that Sparkle could get in if she wants to and when she's looking for a place to hide hopefully she'll go there and recognize her home. You can leave some food in the garage as an enticement.  In the meantime you're doing the right thing by putting up flyers, and its a good idea to offer a reward, but don't specify how much on the flyer.  Keep calling the shelters because you never know when someone will find her and turn her in.
