pregnant cat peeing on sofas

I have having a problem with my pregnant himalayian cat peeing on our sofas. She also does this when she is in heat.  Is this a hormonal thing?  How do I stop it?

The type of behavior you are describing for pregnant and in season cats is perfectly normal, unfortunately.

However, what most people do with pregnant cats is to confine them so that where they have their babies will be determined by you and not her.

In the long run, she will be more comfortable if she is in a confined, draft free place to have her babies. We like to use a cardboard "jumbo" storage chest (10" X 16" X 26") in her own room where the litter pan and food and water will be located.
