kittens eyes will not open

Question
My friend upstate has found kittens in a barn.  They are about 3 to 4 weeks old and one of them will not open it's eyes.  I don't know but I would guess it just isn't healthy and has had a problem from birth.  She took it home and her husband pitched a fit so she has to sneak and try to help the kitties along on the sly.  Any advise for her?  Where she lives doesn't have the facilities we have here for looking after 'found' animals.  What are the causes there could be for this?  THANKS,  Mary

Answer
You can try putting a warm wash cloth over his eyes.  They could just be "glued" shut. What I would do is take him to the animal shelter after his eyes open.  As far as the husband goes, its' not like she is keeping him, just taking care of him so he can find himself a good home.  If he has a problem with that, get rid of the husband and keed the kitten! :)
