Question
Hi. Our mixed breed cat of 9 years has been well-behaving and toilet trained from early on.  Starting about three months ago, however, she has been pooping just outside her litter box -- just about every day.  We haven't changed the box, nor the litter and we fully clean the box weekly; we screen out droppings more often.

My wife has read that putting vinegar on the spot where the cat poops and rubbing her nose with a vinegar-soaked tissue at the spot is one way to break her of this habit.  So far, it hasn't worked.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Answer
dont rub the cats nose in anything......try rubbing your nose on that tissue...ugh! id suggest a visit to the vet to make sure nothing is wrong healthwise first.....then if there are no health problems........stop cleaning the box so often.....put the poop on the floor inthe litter box and leave it there a few days...scoop the pee out but leave the poop..its possible that the box doesnt smell like a bathrooom to her
