My Sisters Cat

Question
My sister's cat is sick.  The cat had TRAUMA to the TAIL and she took her to the
vet and that problem was on the upswing after the MEDS the vet gave her.  But
now about 2-3 days ago the cat lost her appetite but will drink water.  This cat
was previously VERY willing to eat before all this happened but now my sister
has to practically force her to eat.  I think this cat is about 4 years old.
The cat stays away from her other 3 cats and wants to come into the bathroom all
the time.  The cat goes into the litter box but actually misses the box and does
her business just outside the litterbox.  That's all the clues that I can think
of THANK YOU.

Answer
Hi Patrick,

It's very important that your sister get the cat to a different vet, immediately!  If the cat is experiencing an adverse reaction to the medication, which is very possible, this must be determined and the cat must start eating.  If a cat doesn't eat for a short period of time, she could develop a condition called hepatic lipidosis, which causes liver damage, if not treated right away.

The problems the cat is presently experiencing, may be related to the medication and/or the original tail problem, so this all should be re-evaluated by another vet to get a second opinion.

I hope she'll be feeling better real soon!
