Tail chasing

Question
I have a 10 yr. old neutered male who lays around a lot and does nothing. Just lately he has begun constantly chasing his tail, and quite frequently, this is so unlike him because he acts like he never knew he had a tail. What is this about. Has he lost his mind???

This is a great question, unfortunately I have no answer!!!!!  I have no idea why they discover what they discover when they discover it.  How cats' minds work is still a great mystery to us mere humans.  

More seriously, it may be prudent to visit your vet to check out whether he has an abscess, a cyst, impacted anal glands, or the like. If he gets a clean bill of health, sit back and enjoy his antics.
