Question
Hi Karen,
I have a 3 mo old kitten who is very curious I was out in my storage shed sunday evening and I accidently locked her in there it wasnt untill this evening that I discovered her out there now she wont stop crying unless you squat down next to her and pet her when I tried to lock the building back up after getting her out she was frantic and her cries were almost like a scream over and over then she climbed to the lock on the door and just hung there crying frantically I have fed her and consoled her for several hours both my daughter and me. she is still crying and pacing back and forth in front of the door. I think she is traumatized but I dont know how to help her. What can I do?Thanks so much for your help!

Answer
Hi Tamarah,

You need to keep her by you for a bit. She was traumatized. She looks to you for comfort as a child would in a similar situation. She was without food and water for 3 days. Of course this kitty is going to be frantic if left alone. Keep her by you. Give her attention, food, and water. Set up a cat bed near you.

She will get better. But I cannot say for sure if she will get over it completely. She most likely turn into a very close kitty. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
