Question
i have a 4 year old cat. since the past two months she is having hoarseness in voice which developed suddenly. since the past month she is sneezing and coughing occassionally. her behaviour is normal, eating, drinking, playing and sleeping as usual. i had taken her to many vets a couple of times. they prescribed only symptomatic drugs which was of no help. i am very worried about my cat and cannot see her coughing everytime and see her hoarseness of voice. please help me out since i have tried every possible measure to treat her but in vain.

Answer
Hi Dechenla,

Your cat may have the feline herpes virus (don't worry, you can't catch it) which would cause the sneezing and possible hoarseness if she's having a post nasal drip.  I put L-lysine powder into my "herpes" cat's food, you can get it on line at vetdepot.com and its fish flavored so they like it.  You can sprinkle it on dry or mix it in with wet food and I've found it works miracles.  Try that and see if it helps.
