Cat not using bathroom

Question
Hello my cat was put on Prozac the beginning of July after 2 weeks she started peeing once a day which isn't normal for her. I took her to the vet a few days later they took x-ray of her and it showed she was impacted very bad because she wasn't having bowel movements either. They gave her a enema she used the bathroom and used it the next day. But she is still not going to the bathroom normally. She may pee every 2 to 3 days and might have a bowel movement every 2 days. This all didn't start till she was on the Prozac. I did just get her some antibiotics just encase she has a urinary tract infection which she doesn't have any pain when she does pee but I thought it might help. I have no more money to get her checked again since I have some extra bills to pay but when I'm able to take her i can only get so much checked because of the lack of money. She is only 5 years old and she is a Maine Coon that weigh's 18 lbs. I've have been changing her diet since the incident and I am starting to give her more wet food even tho she is so picky and doesn't want to eat it half the time. She has never had this issue before until she started the Prozac which i took her off of because this was the only new thing that has changed and I considered it to be the main reason for her not using the bathroom. If you could kindly help I would appreciate it I just don't know what else to do for her. I don't want her to die and I do try my best to take her to the vet as much as I can she is rather healthy other then this. I know you may not have the answer to whats going on and she has already been checked once by the vet for this matter which i gave you details on the result of that but now the vet is saying that its probably normal but i could give her antibiotics if i wanted which i just got this past Friday on the 31st of July. Any help is much appreciated.

Answer
Maddi,

I'm somewhat concerned about this kitty's toilet habits, it seems awfully coincidental that she'd suddenly stop going to the toilet after being put on Prozac. I have a few questions to ask and hopefully they'll help me to get the information that I need in order to help you out.

- Why was this cat placed on Prozac?

- What have you tried to get your cat to use the toilet beyond what's been mentioned here?

- Have you recently changed kitty litter types/brands?

- Have you moved the litter box recently?

- How many litter boxes do you have?

- How many cats do you have?

- Do you use scented kitty litter, air fresheners or scented litter box additives?

- How frequently do you clean the kitty litter?

- What type of litter are you using?

- Have you considered trying some basic home remedies to see if that turns things around? (Pure canned pumpkin, strained baby food squash, butter or plain organic yogurt to help the cat use the toilet.)

- What kind of food is this kitty eating?

- Would you be open to changing the cat's diet to see if that helps things?

- Have you discussed payment plans as an option with your veterinarian?

In today's unstable economy many people are being hit hard financially. I do my best to offer help to pet parents who need a helping hand with veterinary bills in the form of keeping information about charitable organizations, shelters and other groups that offer financial assistance to pet parents in a jam. I do keep a list of charities and other organizations that may offer assistance to help you with the financial cost of veterinary care for this kitty if things can't be ironed out with the suggestions I have to offer. All that I ask if you would like me to pass along some names is that you give me a general idea where you're writing from so that I don't have to send a whole bunch of organizations your way that aren't in your area - this saves you time because you don't have to go through a bunch of useless information and it saves me time that allows me to help others with their kitty concerns.
