My Cat is he rare?

Question

SUNNY SUNDAY
We found our young man on the back porch with I think or thought is his mama, so we brought him in and got him fixed, declaw and I have been told he is rare because he has no white on him. So I was wondering if you can tell me what breed he is?

Answer
Debbie,

Your cat is a red mackerel tabby domestic shorthair with very remarkable color.  Having white or not is no sign of rarity in cats.  In some areas, the piebald white spotting gene (with white) is very common, almost prevalent, whereas in otheres it is rare to see a cat with white.

Enjoy him and note, he does not care that he came from a feral background.

Best regards... Norm.
