Cat/Bathroon Issues

Question
I'm in desperate need of some advice. I have 2 purebred ragdoll (male) cats (8 mos. & 10 mos.). I have to bathe them both 3-4 days per week due to their not so clean bathroom habits. They use the litter box regularly but I have NO idea how they manage to leave feces all over themselves! I've watched them and I can't tell what the problem is because everything looks correct. The size of the box is extra large and I clean it at least 3 times a day FAITHFULLY! I'm tired of feces all over my carpet from them sitting down and I'm tired of it all over our clothes when they decide that they want to sit on the bed or on the couch! I'm so stressed out that I haven't a clue what to do. Any suggestions?

Answer
Deanna,

Since ragdolls are a slow maturing breed it's possible that these guys are just babyish in terms of cleaning themselves up after using the box... You can always have a groomer trim their back ends to minimize the odds that poop will get stuck in their fur... I keep a good supply of grooming wipes on hand as well as enzymatic cleaner because our 10 month old ragdoll still occasionally comes out of the box with a poopy bum or tail. I know this is frustrating but it is most likely just a stage that these guys are going through so my best advice is to simply have a groomer shorten up the hair around their back ends and keep grooming wipes and enzymatic cleaner handy just in case... They should eventually grow out of this stage. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me again at any time - I'm more than happy to help in any way that I can.

Kind regards,

Ali
