My precious 14 year old male has started drinking lots of water. He eats well,plays the same, everything is as normal. Is this the start of kidney failure, and if so, how much longer do I have him for?

Don't go looking for the worst case scenario. It could be something as simple as an urinary tract infection. Or it could be the beginning of hyperthyroidism. Get him to your vet for a check up.
