Sleeping in the Tub

Question
I adopted a 5 month old Ragdoll kitten 3 weeks ago. He is neutered and healthy. He is doing very well with me He will come to me play with me & sit on my lap. The only odd thing he is doing is he sleeps in the bathtub. He will get on the bed to play, but as soon as I get in bed for the night he heads for the bathtub. Should I discourage this by closing the bathroom door? Is this normal behavior since I have only had him 3 weeks? I have had cats all my life, I am 51 years old, but have not had one that sleeps in the tub. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Anne,

I have seen cats sleeping in sinks. And laying down in showers. I don't think sleeping in a bathtub is too crazy. I think they like the coolness of the surface. And the safeness of the area. I wouldn't discourage this. He may need the security of the area. He will eventually come out and be with you. It will just take a little bit if time. And if he doesn't, well at least you know where he is. It's not going to hurt him. Good luck and take care.

Ciao, Karen
