adopted kitten-older cat still grieving

17 yr old Bobby Lee was put to sleep last month. His 6 yr old housemate (Willis) is depressed. We thought adopting a kitten would help...big mistake! We have had the 10 wk old kitten 2 wks now-Willis is still depressed and will not let the kitten(Charley) near him. Charley tries to play with his tail, pounce on him-what should we do?

I am so sorry for your loss!!!!

Leave them alone.  Willis and Charley will find their ways!  2 weeks is really not much time in cat reckoning, so, please, be patient and they should both warm up to each other and be OK.

So, in a nutshell, do nothing, in fact, ignore them and wait until they come around however long it takes!!!!!
