Is my cat pregnant

Question
I bred my cat on June 11 and this was my first time breeding her so i wasn't 100% sure on what to expect. I read books and all kinds of info about breeding her before i did, but im confused. If she is def. pregnant she is about 40 days now. If she is shouldn't she already be showing? She has the signs like the rosy pink nipples, and she's starting to calm down a lot more, but around her nipples are like these little sacks that are starting to swell more.. i didn't read anything about that but im guessing that is her producing her milk is this correct? SO would you please be so kind and tell me how i can tell she is for sure pregnant. I would take her to the vet but the vet that i take her to is closed for the summer, and i personally don't feel comfortable taking her any where else.. Please help me and my girl..

Answer
Hi Jessica

Your cat will be due on or around the 14th August; normal feline pregnancy is about 65 days. I would also allow 3 days either side of that so she could be due any time between 11th and 16th August
The sacs around the nipples are the milk glands expanding.
If you have doubts about the state of your queen you could visit any vet and ask them to carry out a scan to check for signs of foetal movement. It is a simple test just like a scan for pregnancy in humans.

The vet could also just use a stethoscope and listen for heart beats again a very gentle procedure and inexpensive. You could buy a stethoscope and do this yourself but you would need to know what foetal heartbeats sound like.

Also as this is her first pregnancy you may, and I emphasis the word may, need help during her pregnancy so if you make contact with a vet now it helps when the time comes for delivery just in case she has inertia during delivery
