older cat urinating

Question
My 14 year old Persian has reccently (twice) urinated where he sleeps while we are playing.  The first time was a week ago after I had been gone for the weekend but he had care and company everyday.  The second time I was gone just for a few hours.  Is this a behavior or physcial problem?  I added another litterbox in the house for him since the second time.  I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on this subject.  Thank you

Answer
He is telling you that he does not like you leaving him. It is a way of punishing you. However, since he is so elderly, it might also be a health problem.
Please take him to his vet and have him checked. But there is not much you can do if he is lonely when you go away, except perhaps getting him a pet cat of his own. I find that many people avoid these problems if they have two cats or more.

Good luck!
