Question
Someone gave me a female choco-point siamese kitten a month ago. She's
about 4.5 months old now and had gone through her first heat last week. A
new kitten arrived, a five month old male persian tabby. What are the chances
that they would mate? I want new kittens but not this early especially for my
female kitty. What are the possible safety measures that I should consider. I
do not want them spayed or neutered, at least for now. Please advise...
Thanks Doc!

Answer
Hi Ian
if you plan to use the male as a stud then you should think about getting a stud house just for him. That would isolate him from the female. The female can become pregnant at 4 months old and over. The male may not have the 'wherewithall' just now to get the female pregnant but you never know.

One other thing to consider if you wish to keep the kittens together indoors is to acquire a cat nappy. In the UK you can purchase a nappy from http://www.dog-nappy.co.uk/?gclid=CPL6yKje1o8CFQ5WMAoddSQRyA
Where ever you are there must be stores that stock a similar item. It allows you to keep the stud indoors, but requires care when used.

If you wish to keep both cats indoors but separate then consider keeping one in one room downstairs and the other upstairs but have at least TWO doors between them so if one cat gets past one door the other door will still keep them apart
Good luck
