Question
QUESTION: hi i was wondering if you could help, i'm certain my cat is pregnant as for the past 2-3 weeks her nipples have gone quit fat and her stomach is starting 2 stick out more, i noticed that her vagina was wet and a little bit of the fur underneath it also, i was wondering if you knew what this could be.
Denise

ANSWER: HI Denise

If your cat is pregnant then you should not have any discharge unless it is within a week of her having kittens.  You would be pretty sure she is pregnant by that time as you should be able to see and feel the kittens moving.

If she is not within a week of having kittens then I would have her checked out by a vet as she could in actual fact have a womb infection.

QUESTION: hi Marcia ty for the reply, i have felt a tiny lump in her stomach, this will be her second pregnancy, she keeps sitting in my draws and in my wardrobe, if i sit on the bed then she comes and cuddles in and wants lots of attention, i'm just confused of what the wetness on and around her vagina could be, she doesn't seem like shes in any pain, would she be in pain if she had a womb infection?
regards
Denise

Answer
It sounds like she may have a kitten in there in which case they can have a discharge for a week or so before kittening.  Keep an eye on her and if it gets worse then do go to the vet.

A womb infection would not necessarily give her in pain but if it were an infection then it is important that it is treated sooner rather than later.
