Question
Hi Hilary,

I have a 2 year old Scottie, He is an indoor dog.
im not sure but i think he has a skin problem, on his hind quarters he scratches him self, or swings himself around to nibble there to scratch himself. and he tries to roll on his back to scratch him self. If we scratch him there you can tell that it is bringing him serious relief.
I checked him thoroughly, no fleas, his skin looks normal in the area (no redness, cuts, etc.)But it is driving him crazy. I washed him with a dog Cortizone shampoo, this does give him relief but only for about a day or 2. then he is back rolling on his back whineing,

Can you recomend a shampoo or ointment to give him some relief. we made a vet appointment but it is not for 3 weeks.

Thank you for your time
Michael

Answer
Hi Michael!  This sounds like the classic symptom for an allergy problem.  This will usually come about around the 2 year mark, so this would definitely make some sense.  I have a little Shih Tzu with terrible allergies.  The number one cause for an allergy in a dog, is a food allergy.  I have found that Solid Gold brand food, which is 100% natural and holistic, has changed my dog's life!  No more itching, scratching, licking!  Maybe your dog would find this food as beneficial as my dog has.  Here is the website, if you would like to read about it:http://www.solidgoldhealth.com/
I hope this is helpful!
