Question
i have a female cat almost 1 year old that just gave birth to 4 kittens...  her delivery went well and she is eating, drinking, feeding and taking care of her newborns very well but seems to still have labor pains after 24 hours... the only thing i see wrong is her very back 2 breasts which are not leaking milk and the kittens don't feed on them, yet they have a large hard mass in each... some people told me she still had kittens in her but the kittens were more in the sides, not in the breasts...  i believe that her 2 back breasts are stopped up for some reason and the milk build up is making the hard masses and pain or discomfort...   ever see anything like this?

Answer
Hi Brian!  If she seems to still be in labor, she needs to go to the vet ASAP, as there could be a kitten stuck in the birthing canal.  As for the nipple problem, she may have developed a mammary infection, which will need antibiotic treatment from your vet.  Many things can happen after giving birth, so a vet visit would be a must!
I wish you the best of luck and please keep me posted!
