QuestionMy son just got a new cocker spaniel puppy last week. We took her to our local vet Saturday for her 6wk old exam and shots. I noticed a few days ago that her ears has a odor coming from them.
She does not scratch them or shake her head. From what I have read about cockers is that ear problems run in the breed. What can I use to clean and keep her ears from smelling and/or getting any type of infection. The local vet suggested to clean with cotton swab or cotton
ball to remove wax.
AnswerAt 6 weeks of age, I would be concerned about ear mites and/or food allergies. Did the vet tell you if there was an infection in the ears? You can ask on the next vaccination visit. I like to use vinegar and boric acid (Malcetic Otic) as a preventative for dogs like yours. Ask your vet if they have any there.
